With five open shelves rising on a black square tube frame, the ACME Wendral 23 Inch Bookshelf is the middle size in ACME's three-width Wendral collection. It is a ladder style bookshelf meant for people who want visible storage that looks light on its feet, in a reading nook or a home office.

Shelves are paper laminated veneer over MDF in a natural finish, and the straight legs are square metal tube finished in black. Because the back and base are open, light passes straight through the unit and the wall color becomes part of the display. This wood and metal bookshelf arrives knocked down and assembles at home; pair the ACME Wendral 23 Inch Bookshelf with the 16" version for a staggered wall of open shelving for living room books, framed photos and trailing plants. In a Coral Gables townhouse it reads as a sculptural element rather than a storage piece, and the natural shelf tone warms up white or gray walls.
